Sleek and beautiful Winelamp by Cristian Visentin

on

Veteran designer Cristian Visentin’s latest Winelamp is a collection of lamps that resemble or, better yet, are inspired by the sleek and beautiful wine bottles. Based on a rather simple design concept, these lamps have their base cut and turned upside down on a classy white metal structure, which is a lighting component’s stand that is surrounded by an internal light.
The highlight of this splendid range is that the glass material is recycled after the original object is reused, making it an impeccable ‘green’ choice, quite literally as well.

Transgenerational Kitchen concept tranforms to uncomplicate the complicated

on Thursday, May 12, 2011

Working in a kitchen typically requires a user to stand for a long period of time. This may pose a lot of trouble for those who are either handicapped or old. Marta Rudyk has designed the Transgenerational Kitchen for people who cannot bend much or stand for long.

The whole setup does not consume much space and will endow a user with the flexibility to alter the kitchen as per their comfort level. People with different kind of disabilities need things placed at a different height or level. The design consists of a metal pole onto which all the essential components that are a part of the kitchen are placed. The pole is fixed between the ceiling and the floor and all the pieces can spin easily around it. The height of each section can be adjusted further by moving them upwards and downwards, as each unit is fitted with a stepper motor. These features will subtract all the stretching and bending required inside the kitchen and will prove to be a boon for elderly and people with restricted mobility.

The unit is controlled with a remote and the whole setting can be altered in no time. After all the chores in the kitchen are done, stick the modules on the ceiling. This step will make sure that you are left with a lot of free space which will in turn make the area look clean. Carbon fiber has been used to craft the kitchen. This makes it lightweight and hard-wearing for maximum use. The whole structure is heat resistant and is available in various colors.

Transgenerational Kitchen is a step ahead to provide people suffering from disabilities a safe and comfortable environment. It can also be used by those who are perfectly healthy. With its attractive looks and irresistible features, Transgenerational Kitchen will make cooking time more fun.

'Residuary Events' trash can concept makes you filter different kinds of garbage

on

Trash can is one reason that keeps our surroundings clean. But normally we throw all kinds of waste in one can; this poses a trouble while filtering different kinds of garbage. A team of nine members has designed Residuário para Eventos (Residuary Events), fit to be used at both homes and public places. The main aim was to make a product that will guide users on the environment and ecological level.

It is a collection of five modules, each used for a different purpose. It comes with a flexibility to use all the modules together or individually. When placed together, they act as a magazine for the plant. Each module has a nozzle that represents what kind of waste (plastic, metal, glass, paper and organic) should be thrown in it. There is a display on each that will guide the user what kind of waste can be discarded in that specific container. This will also aptly guide the user about the way materials are recycled.

The whole structure has been fashioned out from PET fabric. This is further caked with plastic strips of wood, which endows the user with a flexibility to completely remove the residuary body. This property poses no trouble while carrying it from one place to the other. The module consists of a base, a body and a specific nozzle. Each nozzle has a graphical portion that has been crafted using green stickers.

Easy transportation and waste removal makes the Residuary Events an instant hit. Moreover, the way a new compartment unfurls, where any kind of plant can be placed, when all the units are placed signals the green aspects it comes attached with.

Pinecone shaped pendant lamp is perfect for any room

on

Now is the time to go back into the lap of nature. Up till now, we were finding ways to develop natural resources as raw material for producing commodities to support our daily lifestyles. That effort of ours brought us numerous dependable alternatives handpicked from nature. But this time, nature’s influence is found in the design of stylish products too. Designer Pavel Eekra has made pendant lamp using natural maple which looks like a pine cone; a simple, but effective inspiration from nature itself. Designed with 56 thin scales put together by small screws undetectable from outside, the lamp brings you the feeling of decorating your room with hanging pine cones.
Without the need of an internal supporting skeleton, the lamp attracts less gravitational pull too. The semitransparent sheets of the lamp let the light come out in subtle quantity and give the illuminated corner a magical appearance. The lamp is fit for any and every enclosure that aspires utility with elegance. But the most interesting feature that can make the lamp popular at one go is its handiness in packing and transporting. The 56 scales can be flat-packed without any hassles and reassembling is as easy as child’s play. So, taking it anywhere and hanging it to illuminate your life is just a matter of time now.

Instantly add a touch of elegance in your room with the Piano Coffee Table

on

offee table or cocktail table, as it is fondly called, supports a lot of items while we relax on the sofa placed in front of it. But a table should be practical and not just a beautiful piece placed in the room. Clubbing both practicality and beauty in one package is the “Piano Coffee Table.”

As the name suggests, the table has been shaped in the form of a piano by Donald Pusateri. The essential furniture piece, with its sophistication, will make any room look extravagant. The artist has sprinkled his love for music and wood-crafting skills on this (one of its kind) piece of furniture.

Piano table has a storage space underneath the top surface, which can be used to store up remotes, napkins, magazines, chargers and so on, giving the surroundings a neat look. Instead of customary glass or wooden table top, which require a lot of maintenance, the Piano Coffee Table has been given a marble top that not only adds a little color to your living space but is also durable. However, the best part of the table is that each piece is tailored as per the consumers taste and requirements, in terms of color and dimensions.

Store food the floating way with Up-in-the-air concept fridge

on

Imagine life without a fridge! Storing food, so that it remains consumable, will become such a problem. But with living spaces getting smaller, keeping a refrigerator will eat up the space even further. Chinese designer Zhang Wei has designed a floating fridge named Up-in-the-air which will make sure that food remains fresh while saving space.

If we observe, the only place we exploit aptly is the floor while the ceiling remains untouched. The designer has explored the possibility of using it in an ingenious manner with Up-in-the-air. In China, hanging food by attaching it to the ceiling is a traditional food storing method. Taking inspiration from this long-established system, now we will be able to store food attached to the ceiling.

The fridge has been fashioned in the form of a cute looking container that can be charged wirelessly. The container has been injected with gas and cooling sheets. After filling the container with food, place it anywhere you feel like on the ceiling. It works like a floating balloon and remains there. The container comes attached with a central controller, which can easily detect the change in gravity. After the gravity is sensed, the correct amount of gas is released by the controller which helps in a suitable uplift.

Different containers are available to store different types of food items. One can easily come to know from how long the food has been stored with an indication wedged on it. Up-in-the-air will prove to be a boon in this intertwined world. It will save space and make sure whatever you store remains fresh.
